Terms of Sale

Version 2026-10 · Last updated 7 October 2026

These terms apply when you buy an Exam Toolkit plan or marking credits on theeconomicstutor.co.uk. They don’t cover one-to-one tuition, which is arranged separately. Please read them before you buy. At checkout you’ll be asked to confirm that you agree to them.

1. Who we are

The Economics Tutor (“we”, “us”) is run by Philip John Edgecombe Uglow, a self-employed economics tutor based in Spain. Our full business details are in the Legal Notice. You can contact us through the contact page.

2. Who sells to you, and payment

Payments are handled by Stripe. Your order is sold through Link, Stripe’s payment service, which acts as the seller of record for the payment. It charges you, collects VAT or similar taxes where they apply, and may show as LINK.COM on your bank statement. Link’s own terms are shown at checkout and also apply to the payment. We provide the Exam Toolkit, the credits and the support.

Prices are shown in pounds sterling and include VAT. At checkout Stripe may show the price in your local currency.

3. What you can buy

  • Exam Toolkit (monthly or yearly): the interactive Diagram Bank, Chain Bank practice (test yourself and progress tracking) and the Worksheet Library, including worksheet downloads and interactive lessons.
  • Exam Toolkit + Marking (monthly or yearly): everything in the Exam Toolkit, plus 200 marking credits each month for Mark My Answer.
  • Marking credit packs (200, 500 or 1,000 credits): one-off purchases for Mark My Answer, available on any account.

The features and prices shown on the plans page when you buy form part of these terms.

4. Your account

You need a free account to buy, so that your purchase is saved to it. An account is for one person. Please keep your login private and don’t share it. If you’re under 18, please ask a parent or carer to buy for you or to agree to the purchase first.

5. Subscriptions

  • Plans renew automatically at the end of each month or year, at the price then in force, until you cancel.
  • You can cancel at any time from your account page (Manage your subscription). You keep access until the end of the period you’ve already paid for, and you won’t be charged again.
  • We don’t refund part-used periods, except where section 9 or the law requires it.
  • If we change the price of your plan, we’ll tell you at least 30 days before it applies, and you can cancel before then.
  • If a payment fails, we may pause access until it’s paid.

6. Marking credits

  • Mark My Answer uses credits for each answer, according to how many marks the question is worth. The current amounts are shown on the plans page and on the marker before you send an answer.
  • Credits are only used when you receive a report. If marking fails, the credits are released.
  • Plan credits: Toolkit + Marking includes 200 credits each month, yearly plans included. The allowance resets each month, unused plan credits don’t roll over, and they end when your plan ends.
  • Pack credits don’t expire while your account is open. Plan credits are always used first.
  • Credits have no cash value and can’t be transferred to another account.

7. Fair use

To keep the service fair and affordable, each account can download up to 20 worksheet PDFs a month (downloading the same file again in the same month doesn’t count twice) and mark up to 30 answers a day. We may suspend an account that is shared or used to copy content in bulk.

8. Your licence to use the content

All content is protected by copyright. You may use it for your own study. You may not share, copy, sell, upload or republish it, or use it to teach others, without our written permission. Downloaded PDFs are stamped with the account holder’s name.

9. Your right to cancel

If you’re a consumer, you normally have 14 days to cancel a purchase of digital content or a digital service. Because everything here is available straight away, at checkout we ask you to confirm that:

  • you want access to start immediately, and
  • you understand that you lose the right to cancel once you start using the Toolkit (for example, by downloading a worksheet or opening a lesson) or start using your credits.

We keep a record of that confirmation, with the date and the version of these terms.

If you change your mind within 14 days and haven’t used the plan or the credits at all, contact us and we’ll refund you in full.

10. If something goes wrong

If content is faulty or doesn’t work as described, tell us and we’ll fix it, replace it or refund you as appropriate. This doesn’t affect your legal rights as a consumer.

11. About Mark My Answer

  • It gives practice feedback to help you improve. It’s not an official mark or a predicted grade.
  • It isn’t a Pearson, Edexcel or AQA service, and it isn’t endorsed by them.
  • Your answer is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to produce the feedback. We don’t store your work or the report. See our Privacy Policy.
  • Marking may occasionally pause for maintenance. Your credits are kept safe while it does.

12. Changes to the service

We keep improving the Toolkit. We may add, update or occasionally remove content, but we won’t make changes that substantially reduce what you’ve paid for during a paid period.

13. Our responsibility to you

We’re responsible for losses you suffer that are a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or of our failing to use reasonable care and skill. We’re not responsible for exam results or for losses that weren’t foreseeable. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law.

14. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts of your home country or in Spain. If you have a complaint, please contact us first and we’ll try to put it right.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version that applies is the one you agreed to at checkout. For renewing plans, we’ll give you notice of any important change before it applies.
